Welcome to Halloween Haunts 2026! 31 Days of posts from horror writers about Halloween, spooky season, scary things, horror, and their latest work. It is a celebration of the shortening of the day, the nostalgia of childhood Halloweens, and all things dark and uncanny. I’ve always enjoyed October, and it might be blasphemous to say, but the buildup to Halloween is often more fun and spooky than the night itself, which is the culmination of the best month of the year. So let these horror writers be a part of your month-long celebration of Halloween (although, let’s be honest, horror writers know that Halloween is not a holiday but a lifestyle and a mindset). Enjoy the scary stories, the tales of Halloweens long ago, and the fun things people do now to celebrate the feast of the dead and of the harvest.
