StokerCon® 2022 Update

Share

Hello!

We are roughly sixty days out from StokerCon. The entire con committee is working hard to produce a convention experience we hope everyone will enjoy. Three eventful years have passed since our last in-person StokerCon in 2019, and we could not be more thrilled at the opportunity to finally gather together with our many friends and colleagues in the beautiful city of Denver. Aside from what we anticipate will be a joyful reunion, we have some exciting updates to share.

  • We have released a major programming update, consisting of more than 30 panels, and more are in the works to be announced later this month. This update also includes the amazing line-up of Ann Radcliffe Academic Conference presentations curated by Michele Brittany and Nicholas Diak. View the update here: https://www.stokercon.com/programming.
  • You can now see who will be taking pitches at StokerCon! Please visit https://www.stokercon.com/pitch-sessions to see our lineup. We anticipate signups for pitch sessions will open in early April, so please watch for an announcement.
  • Due to an unfortunate scheduling conflict, Ernest Dickerson will be unable to appear in Denver as a Guest of Honor. However, Ernest still wants to remain involved with the convention. He will participate in the Final Frame Film Competition as a judge, and we are working to bring him into our virtual programming for the hybrid convention. He’s very sorry he has to miss the convention but hopes to meet up with the horror community at a later date.
  • With panel programming well underway, we are now turning our efforts to scheduling Author Readings. Please note we received far more requests for a reading than we have space for in programming, so, unfortunately, not everyone will be assigned an in-person reading. The good news is virtual readings are open to all authors who are attending virtually only, to those who do not get an in-person time, or to those who prefer a recorded over a live reading. E-mails will go out soon based on your responses to the programming survey.
  • Lastly, we are proud and excited to announce a very special, first-time event for StokerCon, the “13 Books on the 13th” raffle! In honor of our Mass Author Signing occurring on Friday the 13th, we are holding a special raffle of thirteen special autographed books donated by an all-star list of authors. All money raised from this raffle will go directly to funding the HWA’s Diversity Grant Program, supporting underrepresented, diverse people who have an interest in the horror writing genre, including, but not limited to writers, editors, reviewers, and library workers. We will publish a list of the books in advance of StokerCon, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the registration table up until shortly before the time of the drawing.

Stay tuned for more announcements and updates soon, including Horror University!

Registration for StokerCon will increase on May 1. Due to ongoing uncertainties because of the COVID pandemic, registrations remain fully refundable until March 28.
