Two (2) Volunteers for Horror University

The Horror University team needs two Assistant Coordinators to work with the Coordinators in planning, scheduling, and running Horror University Online and Horror University at StokerCon. The work will include gathering and compiling information from instructors about their workshops, such as images and support materials to set up classes.

Assistant Coordinators may also help with running actual workshops online or in-person as needed. The time commitment will be cyclical, requiring two to three hours per week for up to four weeks during the scheduling phase and one to two hours a week during a Horror University Online session for up to six weeks. In-person work requires StokerCon attendance and three to four hours of time during the convention.

Open to all members of the HWA (any level).


Four (4) Volunteers for the Bram Stoker Awards Committee — ACTIVE members only

The HWA is seeking one (1) Active member for the position of Co-Chair, Jury Coordinator, one of three co-chairs who administer and supervise the annual Bram Stoker Awards®. Duties include overseeing jury selection and instruction, coordinating with jury chairs, seeking out works on behalf of the jury, organizing jury results, updating and implementing changes to the Jury Handbook, and supervising the juries throughout each Awards season. The Co-Chair, Jury Coordinator will also participate in matters put to the committee and contribute to maintaining and updating the Awards rules. The time commitment will be ongoing, from the jury selection for each Award season (February) to finalization of the Juries’ selected Works (January). Most work will take place from November to March each Award season.

The HWA is seeking three (3) Active members for the position of Bram Stoker Awards® Committee Assistant Coordinators. These three volunteers will work directly with the Awards Committee Co-Chairs and assist with the duties and responsibilities of running and maintaining the Awards. Each Assistant Coordinator will work directly with a Co-Chair, assisting with various duties from correspondence to answering questions from HWA members and other authors to maintaining and updating the Bram Stoker Award Rules. The time commitment will vary throughout the year with the least work occurring between March and October and more time required from November to February. The most work will occur in December and January, which may require two to three hours per week. Due to the nature of the Awards cycle, volunteers for these positions should be willing to commit to at least one year in the position.
