HWA Officers

PresidentJohn Palisano

John Palisano writes for magazines such as Fangoria and Dark Discoveries. With over thirty short stories published, he’s been a Bram Stoker Award® finalist three times. He’s had novels published by Bad Moon Books and Samhain Publishing, including Nerves, Dust of the Dead, Ghost Heart, and Night of 1,000 Beasts. A fiction collection, All That Withers, is forthcoming from Cycatrix press. He’s had screenplays in the top 100 of Project Greenlight and as finalist at Shriekfest. For the past few years, he’s acted as Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter of the HWA. He loves playing guitar with his band in Los Angeles at some of the finest dancing and drinking establishments in the city. Vice President – Meghan Arcuri

Meghan Arcuri has worked tirelessly for the organization for the past several years. Two notable examples include helping us with our social media outreach and with sponsorships for our StokerCon events. She is generous, proactive, professional, and easy to work with.

Meghan is a highly regarded writer, with her work appearing in many anthologies, including Chiral Mad 3, 18 Wheels of Horror, the forthcoming Borderlands 7, and many more to come.

SecretaryBecky Spratford

Becky Spratford is a Readers’ Advisory Librarian in Illinois specializing in serving leisure reading patrons ages 13 and up. She trains library staff all over the world on how to match books with readers through the local public library. She runs the critically acclaimed RA training blog RA for All, and it’s evil twin, RA for All: Horror. She is on the Steering Committee of the Adult Reading Round Table and is under contract to provide content for EBSCO’s NoveList database, reviews for Booklist and articles and columns for Library Journal. Becky specializes in helping libraries work with horror books and readers as the author of The Reader’s Advisory Guide to Horror, Second Edition (ALA Editions, 2012). As the public library world’s most visible horror expert, Becky has been profiled in the Chicago Tribune, appeared on Wisconsin Public Radio, and recorded numerous podcasts all in an effort to make sure libraries don’t forget about horror as they develop their collections, craft displays, and work with patrons. Becky was invited as a special guest at StokerCon 2017 for her contribution to the genre, and has run the annual StokerCon Librarian’s Day of programming since 2018. You can interact with Becky on Twitter @RAforAll.

TreasurerLeslie Klinger

Leslie S. Klinger is the New York Times-best-selling editor of the Edgar®-winning The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes, The New Annotated Dracula, and most recently, the Bram Stoker Award®-nominated The New Annotated H. P. Lovecraft for Liveright/W. W. Norton, In the Shadow of Edgar Allan Poe (Pegasus Books), as well as the Bram Stoker Award®-nominated Annotated Sandman (Vertigo/DC Entertainment). He also co-edited, with Laurie R. King, the anthologies A Study in Sherlock (Random House) and the Anthony®-winning In the Company of Sherlock Holmes (Pegasus Books). He is currently working on The New Annotated Frankenstein, to be published by Liveright in October 2017. Klinger formerly served as the SoCal Chapter President and on the National Board of the Mystery Writers of America. He practices law in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife, dog, and 3 cats.
