New Bram Stoker Awards® Category: Superior Achievement in Middle-Grade Novel

The Horror Writers Association (HWA) is proud to announce the addition of a brand new category in the Bram Stoker Awards®: Superior Achievement in a Middle-Grade Novel.

For purposes of this Award, Middle-Grade novels are defined as novels (see clause IVe) intended for the age group 8-13 with word length beginning at 25,000 words. A Middle-Grade novel that is deemed to be a ‘First Novel’ according to Rule IVf may qualify for consideration in the ‘First Novel’ category (see Rule IVr) if the author insists in writing that the work be considered for ‘First Novel’ rather than ‘Middle-Grade’ novel; otherwise, …

2020 Bram Stoker Awards® Winners Announced

The Horror Writers Association (HWA), the premier organization of writers and publishers of horror and dark fantasy, announced this year’s Bram Stoker Awards® winners at a virtual ceremony during StokerCon™ 2021.

“This year’s winners reflect a deep range of works from a competitive field,” said John Palisano, HWA President. “The winners and finalists truly represent a broad spectrum of titles in horror and dark fantasy. HWA members and awards juries have shown dedication and objectivity to the selection process for outstanding works of literature, cinema, non-fiction, and poetry.”

The Horror Writers Association (HWA) is pleased to announce the Preliminary Ballot for the 2020 Bram Stoker Awards®. The HWA (see http://www.horror.org/) is the premier writers organization in the horror and dark fiction genre, with more than 1,700 members. 2018 Bram Stoker Award Winners & Nominees

The Horror Writers Association is proud to congratulation the winners and nominees of the 2018 Bram Stoker Awards for superiority. The presentation of the Bram Stoker Awards® occurred during the 4th annual StokerCon™, held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The gala presentation happened on Saturday night, May 11th. The awards presentation was also live-streamed online and will be available for viewing within a few days on the HWA Youtube channel.

The main timeline is as follows:

  • February 23: Announcement of Stoker Nominees – the Final Ballot – on the HWA website, via Special IM, on the HWA Facebook page, and by Press Release.

    Works appearing on this Ballot are Bram Stoker Award® Nominees for Superior Achievement in their Category, e.g., Novel, and everyone may refer to them as such immediately after the announcement.
