John Palisano, Co-Chair
Several rounds of thanks are due Robert and Cecile Cabeen for once again opening their home to our chapter. Many of us spent a lot of pre-meeting time in their pool, which included several member’s children. Everyone brought food, and we barbecued into the night, which was a perfect antidote to the record 115-degree heat in Los Angeles. That sure didn’t put a dent in our attendance, as we had over sixty attendees, with even a few first-timers. It’s rumored the Cabeens will also have a Halloween party, so stay tuned!
We made it through the many goings-on with StokerCon™; we talked about the Scholarships open now, the new Awards Web site, and more. As for local news, we covered the upcoming MidSummer Scream event the San Diego chapter is running, the push to save Horror Row in Burbank (this includes our dear friends at the priceless Dark Delicacies), and the two book clubs being run at the Last Bookstore, the first by Katherine McGee and a second by John Palisano.
Our markets were compiled and read by Eric J. Guignard, who was joined by his patient and adorable daughter. Our Round Robin was spirited and fun, with reports from folks at all stages in the writing process, and with many shared opportunities and some great advice.
We will return to the Cahuenga General Store in North Hollywood on August 12, 2018. See you all there!
