We had a terrific spring meeting, complete with many folks walking away with plants. Yes: we not only grow stories—we also grow gardens and plants. Do not mess with a horror writer with gardening tools.
Many of our members have been seeing serious success. Amazing! We also welcomed a few new folks who are still working toward their first pro sales. It’s great to see how inclusive and supportive folks are.
In mid-April we had our annual booth at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Kathryn McGee and Robert Payne Cabeen have worked hard on revamping the look of the booth with a new backdrop and archway that we were hoping would inspire passers-by to stop and spend more time and duck and cover from the carnival barkers trying to hawk their latest.
Most in attendance will be heading to StokerCon and, to accommodate, we are moving the meeting weekend one weekend earlier than usual, to May 5. Yes. Cinco de Mayo. It will be a good calm before the StokerCon storm, and a good place for last-minute information.
