The Horror Writers Association is proud to announce a partnership with the World Horror Convention for the 2008 event to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Deborah LeBlanc, HWA president, said the partnership is beneficial to both the HWA and the convention organizers because it brings together two of the genre’s biggest events in the annual World Horror Convention and HWA’s Stoker Awards Banquet.

“We were fortunate to be able to hold our Stoker Award Banquet in conjunction with the 2007 World Horror Convention,” LeBlanc said. “We are very pleased to be able to continue that partnership with the 2008 committee.”

For WHC 2008, LeBlanc said HWA will be more involved. “The Horror Writers Association will provide expert members to sit on convention panels to discuss various topics important to aspiring and established professionals in the field,” she said.

HWA also plans to host or sponsor other events as part of the international convention. LeBlanc said details are still being worked out, but said convention-goers would see HWA represented as never before.

“The mission of the Horror Writers Association is to promote the genre,” LeBlanc said. “I believe we are doing that as never before by getting involved in more and more local, regional and international conventions and helping our members get into the public eye.”

WHC 2008 will be held from March 27-30 at the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown. Membership is $120 if paid before June 30, 2007. For more information on the convention, visit www.whc2008.org.
